5 tips to being an effective music brand

Do not be an ordinary brand, much less ‘no brand’.    Don’t be a ‘no name’. Let your name be a ‘brand’.  Let it be known for something.  Let it be attached to something. Not necessarily a scandal but to something that when it is being mentioned, people remember.  In other words, I’m telling you to avoid being ordinary.   I’m not saying you should try too hard to be different and noticed, but I’m telling you to either embrace your uniqueness or stand for something. The reason why you are not identified is that you are no different from the rest.  The degree of your ability to separate yourself from the pack affects the degree to which you are been identified.

Here are five tips to help:

Think ahead:

That is while you build a brand and music career.  Be smart.  Be wise. Talk to an expert, if need be.  Nevertheless, build something meaningful and lasting.

Add value:

Be such a package that corporate organizations would develop an interest in. If you are one that adds value, you would get attention from far and near.  You can’t be ignored nor easily forgotten.  Most definitely you’ll get rewards in cash and kind for value added.

Brand ‘you’ with business in mind

Have potential investors in mind.
Package yourself well.  Let your seriousness about your career be evident.

Influence:

...but influence right. Be a person /brand of influence.  A brand of influence is a trendsetter.  He doesn’t try too hard, he leads and millions follow. This is the kind of music brand organizations want to endorse their products.

Try to bring out the uniqueness in your music even if it’s ‘one thing’.

For example ‘ARA and her talking drum’. It doesn’t necessarily have to be you playing a music instrument like Ara.

Use your brand for profit making.

Find ways. Don’t just stop there, I mean don’t just stop being a music star. Milk your brand. Create your merchandise. Do a brief research; you could do a simple fan survey. Ask them what they’ll like to buy.  Or you could come up with the best product that you believe goes with your type of fans.  Study foreign entertainers, they venture into other businesses using their brands as a platform.  Remember you might not be singing as much some day.
